This rare bird is an industrial version of the venerable 806, which was the flagship of the IHC line when it was introduced in 1963. The high-horsepower tractors were available with front-wheel-assist, and the front-wheel-assist on this 2806 is a factory-installed option made by Coleman for IHC. Late owner Sylvester Hohlfield restored this tractor shortly after having a kidney transplant. Despite being a bit under the weather and only being able to put in "three to four hours a day," Hohlfield tore the tractor down in the shop on his farm near Chaseburg, Wisconsin. He installed a new hydraulic pump and new brakes, and tore the tractor down for painting. The trickiest part proved to be a bad gear in the transfer case, which wasn't available and had to be machined. Finding the 2806 badge has also proved tricky. The 2806 was available with both diesel and gasoline engines. Hohlfield's came factory equipped with the 119-horsepower diesel engine, Fast Hitch, two sets of hydraulic valves, and Torque Amplification (TA). This tractor was photographed on a very cold day on Sylvester's farm. The temperature was minus 12, and the wind chill was off the charts. Sylvester seemed unaffected by the cold, and wore only his old jean jacket that day. Sylvester passed away in April 2007.
