Mark Jenson
Photographer Mark Jenson grew up on a 200 acre hog farm in a small town in Southern Wisconsin. His family was very active in the local 4-H group, which is where he began to explore photography. After graduating high school in 1995, Mark went on to get an Associate’s Degree in Photography. For many years, he worked as an assistant and photographer in commercial photography studios, traveling all over the Midwest.
While freelancing in the late 1990s, Mark started playing around with long exposure photography, in the dark, painting light onto the film. Hundreds of rolls of film and thousands of exposure later, his painting with light has evolved into a body of work showing mainly agricultural and rural scenes extracted from darkness.
Mark and Julie, his wife, have three small children who are their pride and joy. In his spare time, Mark loves running and racing in duathlons. With an active family and a full time job, he devotes as much time as possible to his photography, which is never enough, but he wouldn’t trade it for the world.
“I love working with the people at Octane Press and light painting tractors for them,” Mark said. “The work keeps my passion for photography and light painting alive and strong.”
